Our Program

  • Programming is to include a half-day of music instruction each day and a half-day of regular camping activities.
  • Campers will learn and produce a show choir performance at week’s end.  Some kids will sing, some will make sets, some will work on costumes.
  • This year’s theme is “Flower Power” and will include songs of the 1960’s, making tie-dye shirts, planting flowers and many other fun activities.
  • The goal is to teach all campers that they can “Bloom Where You Are Planted”.   Other expressive art opportunities will be included such as journaling, creative writing, spoken word, and visual arts.

Foster the Music

Foster the Music is a new initiative with the mission of providing and promoting cultural, social and educational programs and support services to children in the foster care system.  The long term vision of Foster the Music includes a broad range of programming but the first year program is the development of a summer music camp as a pilot program in Genesee County. The first year pilot program will launch a new music camp for children currently in foster care.

Partnering with the YMCA, the camp is to be held at Camp Copneconic in Fenton, MI.   Foster the Music is providing a free one-week residential summer music camp for children entering grades 5 through 10.  The focus will be on enrolling children from Genesee County, but based on the program’s success over time, could expand to include children in adjacent communities and ultimately statewide.
