- Programming is to include a half-day of music instruction each day and a half-day of regular camping activities.
- Campers will learn and produce a show choir performance at week’s end. Some kids will sing, some will make sets, some will work on costumes.
- This year’s theme is “Flower Power” and will include songs of the 1960’s, making tie-dye shirts, planting flowers and many other fun activities.
- The goal is to teach all campers that they can “Bloom Where You Are Planted”. Other expressive art opportunities will be included such as journaling, creative writing, spoken word, and visual arts.
Foster the Music
Partnering with the YMCA, the camp is to be held at Camp Copneconic in Fenton, MI. Foster the Music is providing a free one-week residential summer music camp for children entering grades 5 through 10. The focus will be on enrolling children from Genesee County, but based on the program’s success over time, could expand to include children in adjacent communities and ultimately statewide.
